Enrique Iglesias Live in India October 2012
Tuesday, October 23, 2012
Enrique Iglesias. The name is enough as an introduction .... he is one celeb about whom you can safely say ... "the question is not who knows him, But who doesn't know him ?" .... this Grammy winning Latin heart throb pop phenomenon is one of the biggest pop, latin, EDM (electronic dance music ) artist ever ... known as much for his bedroom voice as his bedroom face and body (heheh women lust for him and their men loathe his effect on their women ;) ... his main inspirations in his spectacular career has been Woman, Friendship, Loneliness and Love .... now if thats not the ultimate cocktail of everything youthful and seductive haha ... every woman from Delhi to Rio wants the romance that is Enrique .... wants the sensitivity and sincerity of his voice and eyes ... wants that perfectly honed body that jumps, runs and dances with supermanic stamina on stage .... wants the fabulous lover in his music videos ... and deliriously wants that bedroom voice to serenade them in their ears !!
Enrique Iglesias on the cover of his latest single Finally Found You |
When Only Much Louder (http://oml.in/ ), the guru of music festival organisers in India, brought Enrique to Delhi on 19th October 2012 ... the only topic doing the round of facebook walls and conversation was Enrique and who was going for the show ... what was the "jugaad" ( delhi lingo for backdoor entry :P) for the super expensive VIP and Platinum tickets ( being Delhiites, jugaad is always the first option hahahahaha ) ... and postings of you tube vids ... Delhi girls were in such a tizzy (including us :) .... that boyfriends and husbands got increasingly snide ... a close male friend even posted " who is going to the cry concert? ... oops the Enrique show?" on Facebook .... and within minutes an army of fans plastered his wall with opinions and love lyrics heheheh !!
We first saw Enrique in person at Nikki Beach club in Miami ( Enrique's hometown) ... as just another cool dude hanging out with friends ... the next time was in the Staples Center in Los Angeles ( more known as the home of NBA's Los Angeles Lakers for peeps who follow basketball ) ... and knew what his productions were like. So there was no way we could have passed on this oppurtunity in our own home ground and decided to cover it for Delhi Style Blog ... and boy .... are we glad we did !!!
The show started late, but the crowd kept on singing and roaring with unabated enthusiam until the screens flashed with his initials " ei " .... there was not a pair of lungs present at Gurgaon's dusty Huda Grounds that didnot scream hysterically ... and at that moment we forgot that we had to tweet live or record for the blog or any such professional intent ... we were instantly reduced to being mere fans ... we shamelessly surged ahead towards the stage ramp ... as if we could be more one, with the moment, and Enrique, just by a mere few inches of proximity !!! Such was his magic and physical charisma !!! Here we need to confess something ... we already knew what an Enrique production is all about beforehand .... it always follows a formula ...
1. the flashing of "ei" on the screen
2. the buildup of anticipation with " are you ready " on the screen
3. smoke on stage and his appearance, straight away nosediving into " Tonite I am Loving You " ( the raunchier version tonite i m effing you wasn't too safe for an Indian crowd probably ... these artists are scared of using the "eff" word in India ... funny really considering the fact we Indians are highly reproductive and Kamasutric :P hahahahaha :D)
4. Huge audience connect ... always zooming in for the most unlikely fan possible ... in this case ... a Sardar kid ... 12 year old Parmeet who is in 6th grade and came with his parents ... the lil Sardar said he has never heard of Enrique when asked which song he liked best ... an answer that had the crowd roaring with "chak de phattes" and pride at the lil ones honesty. Next he picked a youngster Mukul ... who behaved like a typical Delhiite "ladki wale" greeting "baraatis" ... such was his respectful happiness that he grabbed the mike from Enrique and ran up and down the stage like a madman shouting "yo" "yo" and pumping his fists into the air and bearhugging the shit out of the amused singer lolololol ( we Delhiites are well known for demonstrating our affection without inhibition ;P) .. the last one he picked was a curly haired kid Rakshita in red pedal pushers and a white top, who was so overwhelmed that she screamed n screamed and the crowd roared and roared when Enrique sang his mega hit "Hero" to her and dedicated the song to Delhi ... as it is he had Delhi in his palms with his " Namaste Delhi ... Aap kaise ho ? Main aap se bahut pyaar karta hoon " ( Namaste Delhi ... how are you doing? .. I love you very much)
5. Confetti canons in the performance of his hit " Escape " ... it was surreal ... Enrique singing you can run you can hide but cant escape my love in a shower of paper confetti as you will see in the pics
6. Huge plastic white beachballs stamped with "ei" released among the crowd to another hit " I like It "
7. His baseball cap, black Tshirt change to white T, jeans, boots is his trademark outfit alongwith a hoodie !!
8. He takes cameras and mobile phones from fans and self clicks himself with the victory sign while singing and also autographs fan's Tshirts and banners ... nobody loves his fans like Enrique while in concert ... whattaaa guy !!!!
Here is the sequence of the hits he performed on stage ... you can find the youtube playlist here :) => ( Enrique Iglesias Delhi Gurgaon Huda grounds 19 Oct 2012 Setlist )
1. Tonight
2. I Like How It Feels
3. Dirty Dancer
4. Rhythm Divine
5. Bailamos
6. Ring My Bells
7. I Like It
8. Be With You
9. Tired of Being Sorry
10. Escape
11. Hero
The Pictures :
Team Enrique with Parmeet and Mukul from the audience |
Desi boyz Mukul and Parmeet showing some Bollywood jhatkas matkas to Enrique |
Enrique's sweaty white T shirt .... oooohhhhhhh :D |
Lucky Delhi girl Rakshita ... we were sooooooo J |
Enrique Iglesias singing I can be your Hero baby to Rakshita and asking her for a dance ..... what a dreamboat !! ... this girl can never fall in love with a normal guy in her lifetime !! |
It was a super show .... Enrique is a very high energy act ... which transmits to the audience ... he is a crowd pleaser and works them like no one else ... the supersonic decibel levels of the crowd was the perfect tribute to the perfect entertainer showman that is Enrique ... Delhi loved him unabashedly and he loved us back with beautiful moments to cherish for a lifetime !!!
( P.S. : S who is more Bruce Springsteen and Guns n Roses type is an absolute fan now :D )
