Fashion Bloggers Meet 2013 DLF Promenade Delhi
Tuesday, April 02, 2013
On 19th march, DLF Promenade, Delhi organised a Fashion Bloggers Meet to introduce fashion bloggers and their readers with its participating brand's Spring-Summer 2013 collections .... A styling contest ensued with Fashion Guru Suneet Varma as judge ..... Delhi Style Blog participated along with other Fashion Bloggers from Mumbai and Delhi .... and we won the contest :) .... The mere fact that one of the capital's swankiest mall and one of the country's most prestigious business house (DLF Group) organised this meet is heartening (represented by DLF Promenade and DLF Emporio Senior VP and Mall Head, Ms Dinaz Madhukar) ..... because until now, Fashion Bloggers in India were in the nebulous zone of a young generation of internet junkies and practically media virgins unlike their counterparts in the west, who wield enviable influence and power over fashion diktats and style trends .... as Suneet Varma (one of India's foremost designers most known internationally for his iconic and quirky Judith Leiber bejewelled minaudieres), judge for the event said .... "The Indian fashion bloggers community is a growing one and an event like this will just be the right platform to showcase their talent."
The rules of the contest was simple .... We had to select from 7 style trends ... Androgynous, Monochrome, Resort Wear, Formal Wear, Neon and Neutrals, Pastels and Graphical ..... We had to use the Spring Summer 2013 collection from the participating brands .... Make Up was provided by Inglot ..... Hair by Looks Salon .... And nourishment by T.G.I. Friday .... We could choose from a pool of different age and body types of few lovely ladies to style or get our own model .... DSB chose to accept the challenge of styling a national level basket ball player from the pool of models ..... We chose Zara India from among the participating brands since there was a time limit for shopping and as you know, we are slightly partial to Zara clothes in our personal taste ..... The contest was judged on the basis of overall impact, wearability, originality, detailing and presentation .... and here is what we showcased :)
Some more pics from the event !
The best part of winning the contest was the coverage provided by DLF .... The news was carried on Aaj Tak at 930 PM primetime TV .... Asian Age, a top national daily covered the event .... MissMalini.com, one of India's biggest celeb blog featured the contest win .... and of course our colleagues from the blogosphere were quite quick and generous with their compliments ...... Last but not the least i have to mention 2 charming ladies i had the pleasure of meeting .... Megha and Shweta from the DLF Promenade team who looked after us and organized everything so beautifully ... Thank you :)

Shruti, age 16, basketball champ, St Joseph's, Dehradun |
My style challenge was a 16 year old national basketball player ... her name is Shruti and she spends most of her time in tracks suits n gym bags ... so first thing she wanted was for me to make her feel pretty .... she was very sensitive about the size of her hips n thighs .... but she confessed that she always wanted to wear skirts like the rest of her "feminine" friends .... so i put her in a beaded mini skirt from Zara, that cunningly minimized her hips .... combined with a neon peachy orange jacket to slim her silhouette, with sleeves rolled up twice to elongate her frame visually ... since she was an innocent 16, i put her in a beautiful lace top accessorized with a cool turquoise neck piece to counteract the bright orange jacket .... just used lip gloss and no make up as she had very young skin ... and did a small messy bun like a "mor pankh" or peacock coronet on the side, that she felt very happy with as it was easy and different from her usual ponytail .... She had no doubt i would win from the word go .... don't know about the repercussions of the contest .... but i have earned a fan for life !!! .... that too a national level basketball champ ..... her happiness was my biggest prize :D
