Imagine a winter wonderland with white glowing trees, shining stars hanging from the ceiling in profusion, models in black top hat and tail coats welcoming you along with tuxedoed penguins and free flowing vino bubbling into frosted flutes as the good life people socialized and danced to the beats of a Parisian DJ Stephane Pompougnac ...... throw in a stellar galaxy of Bollywood and Fashion stars ..... and it was the swishest party Delhi has seen in recent times !! ... The launch of Chandon India's sparkling wines - Chandon Brut and Chandon Brut Rose in Delhi ... was celebrated on an epic scale Ladies and Gentlemen ..... and we the DSB girls were there to help in the celebrations with a phenomenal amount of the Rose sparkling in our veins and smiles heheh :D ..... Do read on to see all the beautiful people we captured for our style files and a short intro note on Sparkling Wines and Chandon India

Chandon India, Chandon Brut and Chandon Brut Rose

This blog post was long overdue actually .... because though we are known for our fashion and style content .... we also happen to be wine aficionados having imbibed countless bottles of Prosecco, Cava and other sparkling wines in our travels to vineyards in Italy, Long Island, Napa Valley and Nasik apart from a very wine specific travel to France courtesy my previous job :) .... For the record, all of us girls loved the Rose and after the first glass of the Brut, stuck to the Brut Rose for the entire night .... excellent stuff and no doubt will feature very frequently in Team DSB's headquarters :D

For the Wine Virgins

1. Sparkling Wines are most commonly referred to as "Champagne" which is incorrect .... Sparkling Wines from the region of Champagne in France can only be called Champagne .... therefore all Champagnes are sparkling wines but not all sparkling wines are Champagne !!

2.   Sparkling wine is a wine with significant levels of carbon dioxide in it making it fizzy. The carbon dioxide may result from
a) natural fermentation either in a bottle, ( méthode champenoise,) in a large tank designed to withstand the pressures involved (as in the Charmat process),
b) or as a result of carbon dioxide injection. ( Source )

3. Brut is the most common style of Sparkling Wine .... it refers to the sweetness or amount of sugar in the wine .... Brut is "dry" which means there is no perception or taste of sweetness ... technically meaning it contains less than 12 to 15 grams of sugar per litre .... So when you refer to a "style of wine" ..... on the drier said you have Brut, Extra Brut, Brut Zero (least amount of sugar) .... on the sweeter side you have from Brut onwards .... Extra Sec, Sec, Demi Sec, Doux (sweetest).

About Moët Hennessy India:
Moët Hennessy India Private Limited (MHI) is a subsidiary of Moët Hennessy, part of LVMH - Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world's leading luxury group. MHI was incorporated in India on April 1, 2001. The company undertakes import, sales and marketing in India of MH luxury portfolio of wines and spirits. The company’s international brands that are available in the country today are Ardbeg, Belvedere, Cloudy Bay, Chandon, Dom Pérignon, Glenmorangie, Hennessy, Krug, Moët & Chandon, Ruinart and Veuve Clicquot.

About Chandon:
In the late 1950s, Moët & Chandon, the world’s leading Champagne House since 1743, began exploring the potential for producing world class sparkling wines outside of the Champagne region, under the ‘Chandon’ name. The first Chandon Estate was created in 1959 in Argentina followed by California (1973), Brazil (1973) and Australia (1986).
Following in the pioneering steps of the founders and continuing its search for new winemaking territories, Moët Hennessy Estates & Wines determined that the Nashik region had the potential to produce world-class, premium quality sparkling wine. Chandon is the first offering from Moët Hennessy to be made in India. Combining the centuries-old sparkling wine-making practices of “methode traditionnelle” with the finest local grapes, Chandon will be available in two variants:  Chandon Brut and Chandon Brut Rosé.

About Moët Hennessy Estates & Wines:
Apart from Chandon, Moët Hennessy Estates & Wines’ portfolio of overseas vineyards is the fruit of an exciting series of acquisitions started some 50 years ago. The house of Moët & Chandon first wanted to invest in and develop vineyards in Argentina where the terroirs were capable of producing fine sparkling wines following the traditional Champagne method. In the 1980s and 1990s, the prestigious house of Veuve Clicquot looked to California, Australia and New Zealand to acquire labels and vineyards that symbolized the New World.
More recently new vineyards have been planted or acquired in Spain, Argentina and on New Zealand’s South Island. Today, Moët Hennessy Estates & Wines brings together and manages these estates collectively allowing each of them to thrive with its own personality and distinctive style and terroir.

Hope you enjoyed the post peeps ... a big shout out to Nicole and Aakriti at Peepul for taking such good care of us girls xx .... until next time :)
