Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff, the half English, half French duo of fashion label Meadham Kirchhoff presented their spectacular Spring Summer 2014 collection at London Fashion Week recently ..... as the live streaming started, we at this part of the world watched amazed at the absolute theatricality of the Elizabethan inspired school girl look straight out of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland's Red Queen meets modern Street Style mavericks "Chanel meets Birkenstock" look ..... Of course these Central Saint Martins alumnus are already renowned for their presentation of a parallel universe where trends don't matter , their story does .... And their universe of SS 2014 is Mary Poppins gone rogue to a horror soundtrack (apparently from Batman mixed by Jeffery Hinton) .... dead roses on the runway and hanging on to dilapidated wicker fences ... a grey backdrop ..... in contrast to .... girls in flaming ringlet curls adorned with bows by master hair stylist James Pecis, ...... baby doll dresses with lace trimmings, ..... Children story book character bags, ..... knee high school girl socks ... and Alice hats by famous milliner Moody and Farrell !! ..... But for all the theatricality, it was a very Ready To Wear collection ..... and undoubtedly one of the very best ever seen in London Fashion Week this year !! ..... Do have a look :)

So we have completed one year of the blog today .... and its been such a journey .... to even try to recap the past year is sheer madness .... so as Chief Story Teller of the blog, i am going to share the story of us now .... as we are ....... In many ways it is also the story of the rise of blogging in Delhi, the capital city of India, where we are based ..... Of course there have been bloggers before when we started .... but these pioneering people were known only to a limited circle until Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest burst in a phenomenal manner on a generation who started on the social media game a few years back in school and reached college in the last 2 years .... They had time to finally document the urban global consumer life around them .... and all of a sudden .... like it happened before in the other parts of the online world .... brands and corporates woke up to the fact that here is a generation who would trust the independent voice of online blogs than get influenced by ads in print and on TV, merely because these "online media" came from amongst them, is one of them, is as much a consumer like them, .... in comparison to "paid content" from advertisers, or "editorial control" in a traditional print medium ..... It is no secret that India is one of the fastest growing digital markets in the world ..... and we at DSB has just about stopped explaining who or what is a Fashion and Lifestyle Blog to most people here :) .... Welcome to our world and story !!

Asher Swissa, better known as DJ Skazi, and one of the most prolific EDM superstar in the world, played at blueFrog Delhi recently .... He is unarguably one of the biggest names in the world of psy trance .... and his brand of rock n rolla electronica has a huge fanbase in India .... us included !! .... So off we went ... Channelling Skazi’s punk and hard rock origins in our outfits we incorporated autumn’s hottest trends ... chains, rivets and studs ...  for a truly rocking rocker chic look ..... Dressed to kill our female assassins arrived at Blue Frog just as the venue started filling up with Delhi’s reverent psyheads ... While DJ Leon Russell started proceedings inside warming up the audience for Skazi, Neuromotor took centre stage at the courtyard .... Neuromotor is the alter ego of DJ/producer Frédérick Talaa, one of the trance scene’s most well-known icons ... Among cheers and whistles, he started his set by churning out some acidic techno ... We loved the funky trance beats and the trip hop undertones in his music ... Meanwhile inside, the highly anticipated act of the night had set underway by then .... A roar resounded in the club as Skazi himself took to the stage! ... Having been on the electronica scene for over ten years and pioneering the use of live electric guitar and hard rock elements in his music ... Skazi has established a name as one of the forerunners of psy trance in the world with his own unique style of hardcore dance floor trance ... He has performed at prominent electronic music festivals across the world such as Fuji Rock Festival, XXXPERIENCE Brazil and many more ... Track after lethal track that Skazi unleashed from his hard rock fuelled electronica arsenal, set the arena alight with maddening energy! ... Anarchy seemed to have gripped the venue as a seemingly lacklustre crowd surprised us by transforming into an army of raving fans ... By the time Skazi played his most popular tracks like ‘Hit and Run’ and ‘Warrior’, the atmosphere had become infectious, nobody could stand still ... A state of trance had descended upon Blue Frog ....
“When I choose ma men I choose them like a warrior
When I makin' love I make it to destroy ya”
We sang along .... dancing on aching feet that refused to stop moving .... A tireless raving crowd at Blue Frog saw the night melt into morning even as Skazi went on and on injecting us with his adrenaline pumping trance beats .... Check out what we wore for a night of sheer fun .... and also our fav track list of this phenomenal DJ !! .... plus meet Nishant Matta .... a 21 year old Delhiite who is making a name for himself in event photography .... infact Skazi publicly appreciated Nishant's photograph on his FB page :)

Hello peeps .... this is the second post in our series .... where we profile street beggars in and around Delhi primarily .... At the onset, as we already said in our first post on this topic .... we specify that the object of this exercise is purely sartorial .... this is not a social or moral commentary on the rights and wrongs of begging .... The existence of beggars in India is a given .... they co exist side by side with all sorts of people from various economic backgrounds .... this then is just a documentation on our part .... where we have captured them as they are .... if they happen to catch our eye with what they wear .... The idea is not to glamourise them either .... for what they wear is almost always a matter of what is available to them as a necessity ... mostly charity clothes .... but Style is always a personal subject .... and many a times we have been inspired by the way the clothes come together .... This is just another topic for blogging for us .... it doesn't reflect nor indicate our personal views on the subject of "begging" .... Its about the clothes, period. .... you can read the first in our series here ( Indian Beggar Style Diaries Part 1 )

"Must a name mean something ?" Alice asked doubtfully
"Of course it must"  Humpty Dumpty said with a short laugh ; "my name means the shape I am - and a good handsome shape it is, too. With a name like yours, you might be any shape, almost.”
- Lewis Carroll

What's the music scene in Delhi, DSB ? .... That's the most frequent question we get ... since our blog spread its wings in the last year .... though we have covered massive acts like Guns N Roses, Enrique Iglesias and Infected Mushroom before .... we have not really chronicled all the new wonderful acts coming up on the Delhi scene .... but hopefully that is going to change with the welcome addition of Akanksha Chauhan into the DSB family ..... who joins us as our music beat .... Akanksha is in her own words ... "student of Architecture, Aquarian, Dreamer, Lover of all things dark, fantastical and obscure, Self-absorbed writer, Music fiend, Cosplayer, Deviant " ..... she along with our veteran blogger Aanchal .... will be blogging on the music scene in Delhi ..... starting with FuzzCulture's EP launch on 29th August at BlueFROG, Delhi .... here's to looking forward to more reportings from our cool cats on the prowl :)
