Designer Pawan Sachdeva is one of those fashion people that prefers staying under the radar ..... In my one year of covering Fashion and Couture weeks in India ..... i have never come across him in the numerous post fash week parties or social events !! ..... But i have certainly heard of him many a times, in relation to Men's designer collection wear ..... it is another matter that he makes stunning womenswear too !! ..... So when i got invited to "The Festival of Hope" , a Fashion Show celebrating Cancer Survivors in association with the Indian Cancer Society .... there was an invite from Pawan to walk for his Finale show as a Fashion Blogger !!!! ..... Celebrating the survival from Cancer and also creating awareness among the citizens,  this was “The Festival of Hope”'s third chapter and Pawan has been lending his support to this worthy cause since its inception .... Along with cancer survivors , his creations were showcased on well known names from industry, society, models and Bollywood personalities ..... I was thrilled to walk for such a worthy cause with my bloggers weapon, my camera :) .... and because it was a collection which was truly a class apart ..... i clicked my fellow Ramp walkers backstage before the show ..... ( can't let go of documenting a designer collection, can I ? ;p) ..... The best thing about the collection was its palette of monochrome .... Black and White ... Classy Cocktail Couture !! .... Although there were beautiful formal gowns and dresses .... i especially loved the Tuxedos and Contrast Shawl Collars .... very very James Bond and Savile Row !!! ..... Polka dots, Paisleys, Velvet, Black Lace on Nude Satin and Colour on Colour Bead Embellishments made the collection truly red carpet, glamorous and ageless !! ..... Indeed it was so refreshing to see a designer's creations on real people and different body types after waves and waves of thin famished models on the catwalk :P .... Choreographer Ronica Jacob did a fabulous job of keeping us in line with timely cues .... and Deepa Arora sang one of my most favourite song live ... "Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai" .... the song certainly calmed my palpitation before the ramp walk !! .... Do check out A Class Apart !!

Study by Janak is one of those grand old dames of chic couture in Delhi ..... that have always existed in your consciousness whether you have shopped there or not ..... You simply know about SBJ (Study by Janak) because whenever you have had a marriage or a big occasion in the family .... someone or the other would always mention its many stores as a must stop destination for luxury occasion wear shopping !! ..... Such is its fame !!! ..... Recently SBJ organized a gathering of top stylists and fashion media of the city where we were introduced to their Winter 2013 collection .... which was just instore in anticipation of the upcoming wedding season ..... We had a super time checking out their multi floors in the South Extension store and was completely bowled over by the fabulous designer collections and their own in house label ..... SBJ's Made to Measure service is something i have personally experienced in my family and their superior craftsmanship, impeccable tailoring and immaculate guest service relation has already made me a fan for life !! ..... Their stylized occasionwear needs no introduction to the sartorially inclined of the capital .... Delhi Style Blog however took this wonderful opportunity to style a cocktail and bridal look on their very handsome mannequin and our equally stunning blogger Aanchal :D .... Do have a look :)

Imagine you have to attend a fashion event ..... imagine you have a naughty 20 year old for company, whose concept of time in the real world doesn't match with HER universe ..... imagine the said 20 year old driving fast and furious through the crazy streets of Delhi with a slightly sprained ankle !! .... Are you with me on this crazy story till now ?? :p ..... Yesterday it so happened, that we were invited to Style Arrest 's Pop Up Shop event at The Dirty Martini, the Olive bar at Mehrauli, Delhi. ..... Stylearrest.com is promoted by our good friend and super model Sonalika Sahay, and we simply had to go check out all the fashion goodies we had seen online so far ..... It was decided that Aanchal and me will go for the event ..... but till 6 in the evening ..... there was still no sign of Aanchal or her phone !! .... The mad creature just got a new Apple 5S from her dad and she was offline from everything wireless !!!! ..... When she surfaced on the virtual world finally, i was spitting mad ..... but charmer that she is, she conned me into believing she hadn't forgotten about the event, and was on her way to give me company in a lil bit of shopping at DLF Promenade Mall, before the event ..... Well Aanchal came and i fainted !! ..... She was dressed like a punk with crazy hair, disreputable jeans and a fat sprained ankle in a pair of sneakers !! ..... So i did what any civilised Stylist would do on an occassion like this .... I decided to make a style statement out of her personal attire and took her for emergency shopping to accessorise and fashion her up !!! ..... We landed at the BYSI store at the mall where i wanted to shop according to my initial plans ..... and between the store Manager, Punam Prasad, her store girls and us, we spruced up Aanchal's hair, did the most minimal makeup possible and styled her as a Bengali Bahu gone mad !!!!!! ...... Do check out the results .... and catch the fashion event on our facebook page  Delhi Style Blog on Facebook :)

Fashion Designer Jenjum Gadi is famously known as the King of Gota, but for his Spring Summer 2014 ready to wear line, at Fashion Design Council of India's Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, he presented a devastatingly stunning collection of insect prints that literally made jaws drop !! ..... Of course insect prints are nothing new ..... the Victorians made the shiny beetle into fashion art ..... Cicadas, dragon flies and other insects were very popular during the Art Nouveau period .... In 1997, Thierry Mugler was inspired by insects for his seminal haute couture presentation "Insect Woman" .... in recent times, Lanvin, Thakoon, Tory Burch have also been bitten by the bug print ..... but to see Jenjum's collection "Insecta" Spring Summer 2014 on the runway was an exercise in straining the extraocular muscles ..... eye poppingly !! ( in case you didn't know the EOMs or extraocular muscles are the fellas that cradle your eye ball and are the fastest reacting muscles in your body :P) ..... The first question the fashion press asked Jenjum in his post show conference was predictably ... "Why insects" .... i just smiled at one corner .... because just a few days back during the fittings session for fashion week, i espied the now famous dragon fly ensembles and was most curious about his inspirations .... For his Autumn Winter 2013 collection, Jen's inspiration was his hill tribe ancestors through the storytelling of his grandmother, and therefore named "Clan" ..... and now this time his inspiration was most obviously nature .... and therein lay a clue .... The designer was channeling his roots .... the beautiful land of orchids .... Arunachal Pradesh .... one of the 18 biosphere reserves of India ... a land of unparalleled biodiversity rich in species both flora and fauna ..... Now for some people the idea of insects is very creepy ..... but they are without doubt a very intrinsic part of the terrestrial eco system .... often reviled but very needed to maintain the balance in nature .... and Jenjum pays the most beautiful sartorial homage to the most diverse groups of animals on the planet, including more than a million described species and representing more than half of all known living organisms ..... the arthropods Insecta :)
